Amy Nicholls is best known for her vibrant landscapes showcasing water and sky and the unique reflections between the two elements. It is the delicate detailing of each piece that allows her unique style and perspective to stand out and be recognized. AN works in acrylics, mostly on stretched canvas, and sees each piece as a new opportunity to push her artistic capabilities further.
Her themes focus around Canadian landscapes of places she has lived such as Georgian Bay and the Qikiqtaaluk region of Baffin Island. However not limited to landscapes, AN has been drawn to strong images of animals, children, and family moments.
She has spent 20 years developing her style and technique (and still continues too). She finds inspiration and motivation being around Artists of all styles and mediums. Never one to follow a specific style, her work has been inspired by such greats as, The Group of Seven Artists, most notably Emily Carr and A.Y. Jackson, Picasso, Salvador Dali, Alex Colville, the many wildly talented Artist from Cape Dorset, Nunavut, and her fellow MAA Artists. She strives to create cohesion between realistic imagery and impressionist techniques and perspective, while finding the magic, the sparkle, in each work. She sees the wondrous beauty of nature, and pulls that magic out for the audience to feel as a moment in time is encapsulated solely for their enjoyment.
Amy currently lives in Manotick Ontario. She and her husband are separated, but co-parents their son and the ever popular Inuit Sled dog, Otis.
